The usual dose of caffeine use in adults is 100-200 mg orally and is administered every 3-4 hours and not for sleep substitutes. While the maximum dose is 100-200 mg orally not more than 3-4 hours or 6 times a day.

The dose of caffeine use in children younger than 12 years is 100 mg no more than 4-6 hours. As for children with age more than 12 years should be according to prescription and doctor's recommendation and not for sleep substitute.

How can caffeine cause addiction?

Caffeine also includes an addictive substance, the caffeine structure is almost similar to the adenosine molecule in the human brain that serves to create a feeling of drowsiness and fatigue. When caffeine attaches to the adenosine receptor, within a few hour caffeine will prevent the brain from causing fatigue and make the body last longer to wake up.

When the body gets too frequent caffeine intake, the number of adenosine receptors in brain cells will increase. This will cause the absorption of adenosine in the body will be faster so the body feels more tired and weak.

Under these circumstances, a person will need more caffeine intake.

Caffeine will prevent the body feel tired and provide adrenaline intake in the body so the heartbeat will be faster.
